How I made 5k Selling NFTs

So we’ve all already heard about NFTs by now (no worries if you haven’t, we got you here). I wanted to share my journey and learnings with you baddies so you can do the same.

It all started about a year ago with article links - my name is Kitty and I kept getting articles about the crypto kitties and NFTs. I’ve been a digital designer for seven years now and my close friends were wondering if I was the one behind this project. Record scratch, ~it wasn’t me~ but it peaked my interest.

I started researching about NFTs and asking questions. From there, I found Clubhouse and had hour-long conversations about NFTs, how to make a wallet, how to post to opensea…the works. It was peak covid, there was nothing to do and I was on this app everyday with my friends trying to figure out how to navigate this world of web3.

I was also working as a professional artist, but a broke one at that. I was living in San Francisco with a six figure job, surrounded by people with everything luxury and not enough money in my bank account to afford crypto. I was in the minting clubhouse calls for Bored Ape Yacht Club and 0n1 Force thinking to myself, this is going to be big, how do I get to the point where I can take a leap and jump in.

From there, I worked my ass off, created a Block Chain Solutions company, Devco, and did everything I could to learn about web3. Another story for another time, but fast forward to now, I’m living life as a degen (Abbreviation for a 'Degenerate' gambler. Used often when talking about yield chasers in DeFi who go for unaudited projects). From the clubhouse days, I was an early adopter of the .ens domains (it’s like having a website link that directly connects to your metamask wallet address). I spent two hours in a Clubhouse asking multiple questions to figure this out and was rewarded for these efforts. I kept hearing chatter about the “ENS drop” but had no idea I was eleible. Last November, I did a few google searches, clicked on the airdrop link and BAM I had $13,000 dropped into my account.

I FINALLY had the freedom and my first big payday from crypto. Rather than cashing out, I wanted to figure out the world of NFTs to see what I can do with this free money. I wanted to learn the ropes so I could teach my baddies how to navigate this JPG selling world.

I started looking on NFT Calendar and saw recent projects launching. I then was minting, buying into projects and asking my friends about NFTs. From there, I continued asking the right questions and found friends that were doing the same. In December, I was at a holiday party and found another degen on his phone at the bar minting NFTs. I told him about NFTGG and he shared the “alpha” (term used in crypto for tips on new NFT drops, tokens etc). He was minting two female led NFTs - Crypto Coven and Alpha Girls. I quickly glanced at the projects and got SO EXCITED to see these female led projects with the opportunity to mint. I quickly minted one one of each and then the waiting game ensued.

The next day I patiently checked my metadata and waited for my NFTs to reveal. When the Crypto Coven showed up, my heart went wild. The art was beautiful and this project was incredible. I was floored that the project was doing both a generative PFP with physical quality traits but my witch also had generated stats or “attunements”. I like to explain this while I relate to the process of building a Sims character - you usually pick out each element down to how clean or dirty your character is. Now these stats are randomly assigned to you and you play in the metaverse with your generated character. I was so excited about this project and work, I minted another one three days later.

I loved both of my witches so much and kept an eye on the project. It was a feeling I had and the knowledge of being able to spot a great project. It was a waiting game from here, to see where it was going. All of a sudden, I woke up one day and the project was popping - I minted at .08eth on 12/09/2021 and it went up to .4eth on 01/02/2022. I was so excited to see the potential of growth, I had two and wanted to see if I could flip my first NFT. I listed at .4 and like magic, she was gone. That was my first profit, I had $450 in my account and was so excited. I kept seeing the project grow and I was very interested in getting another witch with my sun sign, Gemini. So I decided to use the profits to buy back in with a witch that matched my vibe.

Now I still had two witches that I loved, more time went by and then all of a sudden again, I woke up and the floor was at 2eth! I hadn’t been watching closely but the project also released curses to combine with your witch. The additional asset drop from this project was driving up prices. I felt that feeling again, let me see if I can make a sale. I loved my witch but I also had a few bills to pay. I listed her for 2ETH on 01/24/2022 and bam, sold for $5,365. OMG! My first “big” NFT sale, I was so excited. Now full disclosure, I let my partner know the price was pumping and the next day he sold his for 3ETH! Go babe! There was a little fomo here about “missing out” on another $2,500 but omg I still had a big sale! And I still have my last witch, my Gemini queen, that today has an evaluation of over $6,000.

This was a wild NFT ride and I’m so excited to keep on going. One piece of advice I received from my degen friend inspired me to do this: “mint as many as you're comfortable with and sell them at incremental values. By selling at increments, you’re making sure to make profits along the way and you can always buy back in. Another piece of advice is DYOR (do your own research)! I did buy a few NFts that I still love for the art but the value didn’t skyrocket like this project. When buying an NFT, look into the project, the community, who made the project and form an educated assessment on where you think the project will go. No worries if this is still confusing, I’m drafting another article on how to be a degen. But for now, I was so excited about this win, I wanted to share it with the baddies <3

Thank you for reading and as always, we are here for you at NFTGG. Drop into our discord and ask any questions you have! Always happy to help :)
